Mr and Mrs Smith
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie go head to head in this action blockbuster

Real life lovers Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt star as married couple John and Jane Smith, a seeming normal middle class couple whose marriage is on the rocks. He's an engineer and she works with computers; or so they think. In fact they are both leading a double life as highly skilled contract killers working for rival agencies. When they are both assigned to kill the same target their respective agencies order them to eliminate the other ie they have to kill each other.

Intricate plot lines and unpredictable twists this ain't got; in that department it's a bit of a no brainer. However for sheer star studdedness and entertainment factor this film is superb. The mix of high-octane action and wise cracking comedy keeps you entertained throughout. The violence is offset by a slapstick angle, which brings many laughs and the snappy camerawork matches the snappier dialogue. Vince Vaughn is especially good as the assassin who still lives with his mum, delivering slightly misogynistic, comic quotes.

All in all this is an entertaining piece that doesn't promise intelligence, so don't expect it. What it lacks in that department it more than makes up for with thrills and laughs from the all-star cast. Despite a simply preposterous ending this is an all out entertainer, not to be missed.

That's the movie, but what about the extras?

The DVD is a bit of a let down on the extras front, you would expect a little more form such a hit film but there isn't even cast interviews or behind the scenes features. On the other hand there is a clever featurette showing how a scene is made and a few good deleted scenes. Also the audio commentaries by the director, writers and producers are very involving and thoughtful. The slight lack extra material is more than compensated for by
this delightfully entertaining film; all in all a thoroughly recommended DVD.
