Comfortable Stilettos at Last

Tue, 01 Aug 2006

Tottering in high spikey heels may attract admiration from the opposite sex . However, for all its attraction, stilettos are nonetheless painful shoes to wear. However, a shoe designer has recently worked trainer brand Nike to invent a stiletto with an air-filled sole.

The sole, used previously in Nike running as well as football shoes, functions by cushioning the foot when it makes contact with the ground.

Stilettos are the most painful kind of shoe to wear due to their thin yet high heels. This makes the wearer 'veer forward', placing more pressure on the soles of the feet.

This makes women's muscles ache and renders their feet more prone to blisters.

The shoe designer, Cole Haan's spokesperson, stated that it works as the air sole is contained in a platform under the ball of the foot as well as in the heel of the pumps in order to balance body weight evenly.

The maximum heel height is to be 3.5 inches.

The shoes are likely to be available in the UK sometime in 2007.
