Kylie Minogue who has been courageously fighting breast cancer since last May was seen beaming with smiles as she sat on the back of an elephant during her surprise visit to Sri Lanka.
Kylie was visiting the Children Of The Sea theatre group of which she is a patron and a sponsor. Due to her illness she had not been able to see any of their shows and was said to be delighted to finally visit the children and see their performance.
Children Of The Sea was formed in the aftermath of the tsunami disaster with the help of director and producer Toby Gough. The group consists of 27 Sri Lankan children performing Shakespeare’s "Pericles". The group has had a great impact on lifting the morale of the country that was devastated in December 2004.
The singer who has been an inspiration to many who suffer from cancer, is said to be in high spirits. Her cancer is now in remission, which means that her body is now free of cancer at this point but there is no guarantee that it will not return. The all clear will only come if the remission continues for another five years. The remission came after a partial mastectomy and six months of intensive chemotherapy.
Close friends and family have said that Kylie is now keen to get on with her life again and was even planning on rescheduling dates of her Showgirl Tour which was cancelled when the cancer was first diagnosed.
Many people have been following Kylie’s progress and the news of her remission and her determination to get on with her life will be an inspiration to many who suffer from this disease.
