Leggings and leg warmers, eighties fashion styles, may be this season's hottest new look. However, not everyone is impressed.
Autumn / winter 2006 is going to commemorate the styles of the eighties.
The Eighties were not a fab era for clothes .
There were white stilettos, puffy tops and jeans. On the other hand, Sloanes had prim, school mistress like facades. They showed off their twinsets as well as their pearls, denims, Barbour jackets, penny loafers and Alice bands and penny loafers. Even at 15 they resembled their mothers .
The two classic examples are Madonna and Joan Collins.
Madonna is fully responsible for fingerless lace gloves, coloured bangles worn right up the arm and bushy eyebrows.
Joan Collins pioneered the power suit and shoulder pads, with a little help from Margaret Thatcher for the latter.
The Eighties are responsible for things worse than pixie boots and shoulder pads.
'Bodies' are back. They are bodices worn on the outside of clothes, as opposed to the inside.
And of course ladies do not forget your leggings, a highly fashionable garment or horrendous nightmare sausage skin?
