Lust
is sensual desire, that is, incorrect being, thought, speech or action
which may hurt another.
Like greed, lust is a cause of much turbulence in our minds. We chase
thoughts that we have given a meaning to.
We are fooling ourselves into believing something which is not. We
may lust after the job of another. We may imagine scenarios of power;
what we would do, how could we do whatever better than the other. We
are constantly roasting in the sufferings of our mind. Lust only brings
a moment's pleasure. If we consider this pleasure, once we attain what
we are lusting for, we will begin lusting for something else.
One unique characterisation of the mind is that it is always searching
for something new. However, as soon as you have this new object/person
it will become old.
It is no longer new and your mind will start searching for something
new again. This search has brought about great developments for us,
such as, all the comforts, technologies, sciences and religions.
However, misdirected searching can be destructive. Searching in darkness
is always fraught with danger. You are bound to hit something if you
travel with your eyes closed. This darkness is due to nothing more
than ignorance and lack of understanding.
